Creating a FREE account in Milanote tool:

The Milanote Visual board tool provides a free sign up option and you can opt for the same by clicking on “Sign up for free” highlighted in the above screen print.

Once you click on sign up, the register page looks as below (have filled my details to create the free Milanote account)

Alternatively you can sign up with your Gmail account by clicking on “Signup with Google” .

Once you click Submit , you could see the home page screen as below

You will be prompted to choose your interest/career. Anyway this is not a mandatory option and can skip if you wanted to.

Have anyway skipped to proceed further.

If you sign up with details, you will get a mail for verification. You can click “verify my email “ and if no errors, the signup process to Milanote tool is complete.

Create Visual Board using Milanote :

You could see some options on left hand side and there is one thing called “Board”, which helps you to create board.

Have clicked that and it will prompt you to enter the board name. Have given the board name as “FIRST BOARD” and the screen looks like below now

Right side bottom, you could see a pop up which asks you to choose the appropriate template for the board.

Have selected Project Plan template and the screen looks as below

Its very simple to use and the Milanote FIRST BOARD looks as below after, Note , To do and link details added.

You can do a lot with Action Points added to the board.

You can assign each action point to the concerned person in your team,color can be added, due date can be mentioned etc.

Very easy to do all these actions with drag and drop the required option and adding the necessary details.

You also have options to add an image and to upload a file.Just drag the necessary icon from the Menu into the board and add the required image or file to it.That’s it,you are done.

As the board is somewhat done,what could be the other actions which might help teams?

The tool worked perfectly when tried and I’m using it on regular basis for some time now.

Haven’t really seen any negatives as far as using Milanote tool for brainstorming ideas on my own and to work with small team.

Not very sure if bigger organizations or teams using it for other purpose like Film making, Graphic designing ,product management etc. have any issues.

Based on the experience, below are the things which could be improved or better.

1.Once into Board ,couldn’t see an option to select the template once after closing the popup.It would be helpful if there is an option to directly import the template inside the board any time.

Anyway, work around is there for this. You can open Milanote Templates page and choose the template to get into your board.

2.Adding an URL to a Board – it would be better if an option available to keep the link as it is or add a different anchor text and add link to that.

Overall an excellent and easy to use tool.

Will try to see whether Milanote can be used as an agile project management tool and provide the review in a separate article.
